I would say it is awesome! That is a quality that should be bred for imo. If I had a group laying at that age I would use them for breeding.

Hey everyone, I need some help with my 2 Colombian Wyandotte's. We got them as fertilized eggs from a local farmer in the spring and our wonderful Silkie hatched them at the end of May 2012. We kept the 2 hens that hatched, gave the 2 roosters to a friend with a hobby farm.
The chickens are big, beautiful and healthy, but they have not started to lay eggs. They are now 7 months old!!
We also have 3 Ameracaunas that lay every other day and are healthy.
What's with the 2 free loaders?!

Every wyandotte I've had has taken FOREVER to start. 8-9 months is not uncommon for these birds.
