The Wyandotte Thread

This is a Golden Laced Wyandotte on the left, and a Partridge Wyandotte on the right, at two days old.

Partridge on the left, GL on the right.

Thank You for posting these. I ask a while back for some chick pictures so I could tell what I was picking out at my local feed store that had all the Wyandottes in one brooder. I wanted GL and the girl put one I knew was to light in color in my box. I nicely explained there was no way that was what I ask for. and told her I wanted the dark ones. Thelma & Louise now have enough wing feathers that I can tell I made the right choice. and from your pictures I now thing I can tell the Partridge from the SL. I said I was never going to get baby chicks... Now have 2 brooders going in my living room with 16 chicks. I also have more coming next month including some Blue Laced Red. I'm thinking of adding some splash as well.

I don't know if you or anyone you know is interested in white Wyandotte Bantams, but Dan Jerome was WBA club member I got my first trio from at a Stockton, CA show. He has Three Roses Farm in Washington.
The funny part is that i am emailing him right now considering getting some

He's a nice guy. I love my two 6 year old Bantams I have left which came from him, though I suspect some circulatory difficulty with the old rooster. I've been running some apple cider vinegar in the water a few times a week and he does seem a bit more spry. When I'm ready for some LF Wyandottes (white or buff) I'll be looking for that Tony Albritton fellow.

Are Silver Penciled sex linked? This is my first hatch. My roo has a golden look to him, the pullets might too since I don't have anything to compare them too. My other roo looks more Silver, BUT no fertile eggs from him. So what do I have here? Are the Silver ones ROO and the redder ones Pullets?

if you have pics of the parents that might help... but if your roo is heterozygous for silver (aka golden - from a partridge/silver penciled cross) then it could be that he would produce both red and silver pullets and golden and whatever color the hen is for cockerels... if he's truly partridge, not silver penciled (which should have NO red/gold tints), then the pullets would be red and the cockerels golden... that is, if the hens are silver
