The Wyandotte Thread

Nice looking chicks but I think you may have some issues with color. The lighter colored ones look correct for SP but the darker ones will most likely show much more gold in them as they grow, they may even be Partridge, depending on what your male looks like. The bottom lighter colored chick to me looks to be the best in terms of color as even the other two lighter ones have more brown than I would prefer. There may be a sex link here, you will just have to see how they grow out, the darker may be cockerels(not roos) and the lighter may be pullets, its hard to tell not seeing the parents.
This is typical of SP though. It is a breed in recovery from the brink of extinction. You are not going to hatch out a ton of chicks that look perfect. You have to hatch as many as you can and cull heavy for the next year. Maybe with hard work and breeding diligence this variety could compete with the nicer Wyandotte Bantam varieties in 5-10 years. SP bantams is not a variety for the light hearted.

Are Silver Penciled sex linked? This is my first hatch. My roo has a golden look to him, the pullets might too since I don't have anything to compare them too. My other roo looks more Silver, BUT no fertile eggs from him. So what do I have here? Are the Silver ones ROO and the redder ones Pullets?

Other than Peaky Beaky

...Does anyone else have BLUE Wyandotte hatching eggs available? These little suckers are hard to find.

Three of my Columbian Wyandottes have yellow claws, two of them have dark brown/black claws. Is anything with that specified in the standard, and does it actually matter at all?

Do you mean their toe nails are different colored? Their legs must be yellow.

Ok finally they downloaded

This is my alternate roo. I wanted to use him he is not as gold, but not as well colored either. BUT His eggs are not fertile. I set a whole week of eggs and he was only with one pullet. I might could try him with another pullet or 2. Maybe it is just the pullet.... she seems quite the bully in the new pen.

This is the same roo as the previous post
