The Wyandotte Thread

I would say pullet. My male Wyandotte babies start having flaming red combs by two weeks. She is also pretty feathered out. My boys have fuzzy butts at 2 months or longer sometimes.

Great!!!!!! She is blue, correct? I was thinking maybe she was black before but now that she is feathering out a bit I think its dark blue.

Definitely blue. A very lovely dark blue which is my favorite .

I have 3 HUGE white wyandottes..... at least a pair, still not sure on genders. Are they popular rare or what? I know I don't see them much.... just trying to figure out if I should keep them or sell them. Trying to thin down the new breeds I have coming and I just don't know anything about the Whites. I don't see anything wrong with them. Their size is impressive, they are soooooo much bigger than the other birds with them.... even the BLRW. No I don't have any pictures..... sorry. I was just going through my pens to find some pullets to sell and got to thinking about keeping them or not.

This was a huge issue with rabbit producers just starting out...myself included. I think as I start my chicken raising exploits, I need to remember that lesson and go to the basics first. I already ordered some columbian chicks from mcmurrays to get my feet wet, but when i search for breeders ill be looking for some whites!

Now ya tell me   But it is true.  I try to tell people they are hard to breed but they still want them.  Copper Marans are the worst right now.  Just too hard to get everything right and then you have all the other junk that has been mixed in to muddy the waters too.   I would like something EASY for a little while. White Wyandottes and White Ams are in my future I guess.

So my DD and I are having a hard time deciding on which of our 2 Roos. to keep. We've had hatchery birds in the past know we are trying to get good quality birds if anybody has an opinion on these guys please let us know. Which one to keep and if their up to snuff quality wise. Thank you in advance
