The Wyandotte Thread

What would i get if i cross ( bantam)
Colombian Wyandotte + barred wyandotte
Colombian Wyandotte + SLW
Colombian Wyandotte + GLW
Colombian Wyandotte + Buff colombian wyandotte
Colombian Wyandotte + BRLW
Colombian Wyandotte + BLW

the chicken calculator. put in what you've got it'll spit out what you're likely to get.

in most of those instances, you wouldn't get anything worth breeding back IMO.

The only viable cross out of these would be the Columbian/Buff Columbian. This is a standard silver/gold cross in that what ever color the male is, is what the females will look like and the males will have alot of leakage of gold on them.
Honestly the rest of the crosses would create a whole lot of stuff that will taste good because that might be all they are good for.

This is not a bunny tail. This is a bird that looks like the wind is blowing her tail back and may be missing feathers.
Like I said, and I will whole heartedly stick with it. You dont see LF with bunny tails, most of the tail problems in LF stem from having much too long of tails.

Sorry the pic didnt come thru. It was the black female from a few pages back.

Can all you experts give me a few guesses on the gender of this BLRW chick. Im thinking pullet as her hatchmates have already been rehomed because they looked like roos 1-2 weeks ago. She is 6 weeks old. No comb growth at all and it is just now starting to turn from black/yellow to pink towards the back. Not very feathered for 6 weeks??? thanks!

I want to update with new photos, she/he is now 7 weeks. Wattles have gotten pink and comb is pinking up as well but still no real comb growth. Also, I noticed some dark red patched on the shoulders, I know in EE this means roo but I have never raised Wyandottes so

Here she/he is:

This picture was taken from the CSU thread on BYC. I am also including the comments by an judge.

COMMENT - This bird has three major faults. The lower breast is flat, poor wing carriage and it has a bunny tail. Notice that it is a straight line from the chest to the shanks....it should be curved/rounded like the stern. The tail is rounded instead of the "tee pee" or tent tail. This is usually because the bird does not have stiff tail feathers. More than likely it also has a narrow head. Note the length of the beak. Great camera shot though.

Is this the one you were saying didn't have a bunny tail?

I need to get a picture of my choc girl.

i can honestly say there was no wind, and she has NO stiff tail feathers... they're not too long or short, they're just not stiff. thus, bunny tail. and in all honstely, most of jerry foley's LF blrw i have seen have the same tail IMO...
