The Wyandotte Thread

Starting my hatching plans for this spring. I'm in central New York, south of Syracuse. Looking for Wyandottes, preferably Gold Laced. Do not want hatchery, but don't need show quality. Just a good utility Wyandotte. Seems everyone has BLRW and that is the one color i prefer to avoid if possible. Would like hatching eggs once it warms up. Shortest shipping distance possible would be preferred, or within driving distance.

I have 2 wyandottes (BLRW pair) names Snuggles and Pip. They are some of my favorite chickens. I love walking into the coop and seeing them. They add new colors to my coop and Snuggles is an amazing egg layer.

Snuggles looked kind of ruffled in this pictures.

As a newbie I bought a hatched chick and was told it was a Blue Wyandotte, Is that the same as a laced blue? and what color eggs do they lay. I got a large brownish/pinkish egg but never see that hen on the nest.

Blue is different from Blue-laced.

I brought home this little cutie a few days ago, she came from a wyandotte bin at the feed store, but they did not all look the same, and I was wondering if anyone can tell what type of wyandotte she is by her coloring. Her name is Winifred, Winnie for short.

Looks like s/he has gold-laced feathering coming in on the wings, but it is still quite early.
