I'm smiling today! One of my (hatchery) GLW hens is in the process of hatching out a dozen LF Salmon Faverolles eggs that I got from PasoFinoFarm in Texas -- so far there are at least eight hatched! She's got a home here for life, as long as she's a good broody hen!

Great thread. Just found it last night and read the majority of it. I love Wyandottes. I also love so many breeds and varieities and chickens in general.
Buff laced Wyandottes would be great. Course I think buff laced any color combination on any chicken would look way kool.
I don't have any Wyandottes yet, still thinking on which variety to get, I may just get some of all colors and throw them in a pen together and see what the color outcome would be.

Havent posted in a while. Wondering how all my Wyandotte Peeps are doing out there in cyberspace. After reading and lurking and talking to people I am glad to see so much interest in Large Fowl Wyandottes. They are such gorgeous birds. The bantams dont seem to be near as popular as a decade ago maybe its time to change that too

I just got a nice batch of Silver Laced from Foley's Water fowl. Real excited to grow these out. I am not very patient when it comes to letting them develop so I know what I have. I have raised horses and that takes much longer so you wouldnt think I would be this impatient. I do enjoy watching Silvers ( have a few juveniles from Buddy Henry as well) start lacing after they get out of the chick stage. The black on a good silver is about as black as any thing you will see. It is exciting to see.

By the way shipping went well and the birds got here in good shape. I did lose one over night ( I was a little worried when he came out of the box) but the rest are eating good and all over the place, the vigor seems real strong.

I will post some pic's when they get some color, chicks (like babies) all look the same LOL

I was wondering if there is a Standard of Wyandotte colors that is available to read,compare or look at. My chicks are blue and vary from light grey to almost black. I know that they are not breeder quality but I was wondering how one arrives at these determinations.

If you know the parent stock it would help, I dont know for sure how many varieties of Wyandotte's exists. A number of the varieties are not yet in the standard so there are probably colors that arent recognized.

There will soon be a genetic inclined person that will give you the run down if you have pics or can define parent stock. I am not one of them, it gives me a headache.

I just found this thread. I have 2 GLW. 1 Roo 1 Hen. They are still very young. I'm looking to get more. I also have BLRW eggs in the bator. Love the breed. )

I have 8 chicks in the brooder now from my SLW pair from Rick Hare. I am eagerly awaiting the end product, can't wait for them to grow up. I have a few more SLW eggs from the pair in the incubator, although the hen took today off.

I met Larry Urban this weekend, and I hear he has some nice birds as well. Christina Korfus also has some nice lines of SLW.

I am having no luck finding any color of bantam wyandotte eggs from SQ parents! I am looking for some for my broody but it looks like I'm poop out of luck
