Thank you! Stupid question - which is the thinner lacing? more brown and less black, or the other way around (I get dyslexic about this sort of thing, lol). Nope, I didn't hatch them. Got them as day old fluff balls from Health Chicks and More. This is my first excursion into chickens. It's been fun. Especially as they're so friendly (which I must admit to encouraging my hand feeding them worms a couple times a week - that's what they're looking for in the video, ha, ha).

I love the wyandotte.

I started with one SLW hen. amongst other birds I have. Love the look of her and her temperment. So, now have 2 BLR pullets, another SL (not sure if pullet or roo) and BLR rooster. and a baby from the BLR roo and the SL hen. looks to be GLW.


this baby is a result of a SLW hen and a BLR roo.

Kathy, what beautiful boys!

I have a dilemma that I'm hoping someone can help me with! I currently have 18 Wyandottes (BLR and Blue). I know that I have at least 6 roosters out of the bunch. My flock consists of 20 other birds, with one rooster. (So, 38 birds total). My boy now (HEF!) is a red sex link, and he's a very docile and protective boy, but he likes to mate WAY too much. How many Wyandotte Roos do people have in their flock, and with how many pullets/hens? I have about 250sq.ft of coop space if that helps.

I'm definitely the wrong person to ask about how many roos or the roo/hen ratio(smile). I figure as long as I have enough room(which I do) and all the 25 guys get along( there's been no bloodshed....just some "challenge displays"now and then) and my hens aren't beaten up(which they aren't) I'll keep them until I can find suitable homes for them. if I can't find great homes for them they'll simply stay here until they die of natural causes.
Soon my "Roo Count" may be going up significantly. I have BLRW's due to hatch this weekend from the Foley line, Jesse Paul line and the Barber line. I already have 12 BLRW chicks from Sue Osio of Sterling Center Farm....still not sure what sex they are. All I know is they're gorgeous, friendly little chicks. Keep your fingers crossed for me on the upcoming hatch....it looks great so far!!!!

P.S. Thanks so much for your compliment about "my boys"!!!! When people stop by they always ask what breed they are. I've only had them since early February......I owe a really nice lady 3 hens for these 2 boys plus a beautiful Silver Lakenvelder. Still contemplating names for them.

Thank you for your comment. I do know several folks who would welcome them knowing that they are pullets. But I want to see how they develop first. I have had GLW before and love their calm nature I would hope to be able to keep some dotties in my flock
