I also said I would tell you guys about breeding Nugget. I want to breed her with a Cochin Bantam. What I am hoping I would get is a Cochin Bantam body style with a Sebrights gold lacing. Not sure if it would work cause I dont understand genetics that well. What would you get if you crossed Chipmunk and Nugget? That would be pure mutt!

I think @The Kooky Kiwi has a breeding project like this...

Don’t know if you know, but there are gold laced Cochins

Just for fun, here are some pics of Checkers (thanks to @cherrynberry for the name!)

I know, just wondering if I could basically make some homemade ones. You know, cheaper. Also it is an excuse for me to hatch eggs.
I love chicks! I say go for it! I never had a hen hatch chicks before, hoping it happens this spring! Technically, it should, I have Cochins, 1 Buff Orpington, and 3 Jersey Giants, which are all some of the broodiest breeds.

My experience with that is not that good. I had 3 broody Cochin Bantams in one coop. Make sure you seperate your broody. First, the one that had eggs kept moving the hay out from under her. A few eggs disappeared. Eaten I guess. One cracked. Two made it to hatch day. One died about day 18. One hatched. One of the other broodies was not happy. When Uno got out from under his mom another hen pecked him in the head. He died in my hands about a day later. I put one egg under another broody. Candled it, and it was developing. Next day found half the egg shell and the insides were gone.
