(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’ve been helping take care of adult chickens for about a year after moving in with my fiancé and recently got three ducklings (most names TBA!) and five adorable chicks!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have two adult chickens currently (Frenchie and Rizzo) five fresh chicks (most names TBA aswell!!) and three adorable ducklings! All of our chicks are sexed and are hens but our ducklings were bought unsexed from family farm and home
(3) What breeds do you have?
With the three ducklings we have one Rouen who were pretty sure is a girl I named Rhunön and two White Pekins one we’re pretty sure is a drake who my fiancé named Tony and another who’s gender we have no clue! The ducklings are so adorable and are a Silverudd Blue hen named Arya two Black Sex Links (Names TBA)
(4) What do you like about tending a flock?
I love their personalities! Every single one of them is so unique and full of life I just love being around to take care of creatures so interesting!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I’m a huge reader! Both of my birds names are references to my favorite book series The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve been haunting the halls getting knowledge about tending a mixed flock and how to take care of ducks since I’m pretty comfortable with chicks! I’m excited to join and be able to learn even more!
