DO NOT OPEN THE BATOR!!! Sorry for the caps, but it is so important to not open the bator until they're all hatched. Someone with more experience will be along shortly, I'm sure of it. But I certainly wouldn't open the bator, because you're risking all the other chicks that haven't hatched to be shrinkwrapped. Not a good thing!

I forgot to say congratulations!! lol I was so worried you might shrink wrap the babies, that it slipped my mind!!

I suppose it is all right, thats how it would be in nature.

CONGRATS!!!! Sounds Great!!! I only lost 1 chick out of 67 to drowning. He pipped on bottom and was not rolled onto it! They all should be fine! Some use the egg carton method to hatch. I just let them lay in the bator floor. They all hatched! but the 1. of course. Get the brooder warmed up, feeder, waterer, paper towels down, feed spread on top of towels, marbles or stones in waterer....etc

Good Luck and God Bless!

They will get all the unhatched eggs kicked to the sides but they should be fine. It is far worse to open the incubator right now. it not only can shrink wrap the unhatched chicks, it can chill the hatched chicks if they are not good and dry. the ones running round can go two days before they need food and water. so there isi not rush and they are not all that likely to actually harm an egg running around on it. It is just one more thing you have to hope your way through, you can't really change it.

Ok..no worries on the shouting..lol!! Well the reason I'm so concerned is when they tell you about lockdown they say to stop turning the eggs and to leave them alone. The hatched chicks are rolling the other eggs around like their playin kick ball or something.

I understand what you mean about the lockdown and not touching them deal. In my mind, we can't touch them, but they (the chicks) can!! lol

let em have fun!

the other chicks should be fine mostly, but if they're really wild i would suggest filling a spray bottle with warm water and when you move the hatched chicks to spray water on the eggs that are still in there which should help with not shrink wrapping any babies. and to spray more on any eggs that have a hole already. or place a damp cloth over them.

That is a really good idea. Never thought about that. I see that your looking for some banhameggs, my husband and I have dutch banhams. There's 12 eggs in the bator right now hatching out. I can't wait to see how tiny they are. Anyways if your interested in dutch banhams let me know. Thanks again for the idea.
