Them pesty little birds!

My feeders are inside my coops also. I worry more about those pesky little birds introducing lice and mites. Last year was the first time ever I had them and this year I have noticed some a couple of times. During the summer months I'm spraying nearly every week. I don't have the problem in the winter months. I do have netting over all of my pens.

Easily fixed. Search for rat proof chicken feeder on this forum and you will find a ton of info. Three key points, spring loaded door and a counter weight to prevent the birds from pushing the door open. And a narrow and distant treadle to prevent the birds from ganging up on the treadle and opening the door. Pigeons will do that. Those wild birds will bring mites, lice, and disease to your flock. You are already paying for the treadle feeder from stolen feed, bite the bullet and spend the money.
