There’s a Peahen Loose in My Neighborhood . . .

She is a nice mid-range Spaulding hen. If you want to keep her around just feed her something she likes better than she is getting elsewhere. Make sure you leave out some cat food, sunflower seeds, raw peanuts, or old fruit. You can eventually move her feeding station in a confinement pen and shut the door. Chasing her will decrease your chances of penning her. Also, you should make an attempt to find the owner if possible before becoming attached to her.

Great info and advice. Exactly what I was looking for—and you guys didn’t disappoint!

We’ve searched for her owner—the local TV news even featured her in a story (https://www.nbc12.com/2019/06/20/peacock-parades-around-henrico-neighborhood/)—but nobody has claimed her. I can’t imagine why. She’s definitely comfortable around people, so somebody spent a lot of time and money raising her.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for the quick and helpful replies. I appreciate it and will let you know if I’m able to do anything to help her.

Happy New Year!
