Except this one:

Do hens ever um... jump on top of one another to show dominance? Quite like a rooster would do?

I'm in denial about my hen really being a rooster.

A warm welcome from an imp in Washington

And, Yes they can & will.

Ann Arbor is beautiful!

If you could post a picture of this...er...confused hen, we could probably help you answer the (shhhh) rooster question.

We have a rosecomb hen who doubles as a rooster. she's flown onto the top of our house to crow. She dutifully cares for her hen, the Silkie broody. She also lays VERY HARD SHELLED eggs and goes broody to raise the chicks once the Silkie hen has them mostly brooded and they're ready to hatch. DH says we should rename her Ellen DeGeneres, because she's funny and comical and GAY. She's a pretty hen, too. Our 9 chicks have been raised by these 2 mommies. And the broody Silkie is totally arm candy, a sweet darling. Here's a video made by the boys:

So, yeah, its possible for a hen to act quite roosterly.

Gretamae,

You won't be able to post pictures today. As a new member it will take a little time before you can post pix. If you want email the pix to me and I will post it in the correct forum and send you the link.
