Today was unlike most others. I get up around 6 am....drink my coffee....check the BYC..then about 9 am, I go and let the RIR who are just over a year old out to do thier daily rangeing. They follow me around for a while, while I get feed for everyone....and beg for treats. After about an hour out there with them, I come inside. They are still free rangeing. DH gets up, and we enjoy a cup of coffee....then head out to move more dirt. ( we had 150 TONS brought in). After about 2 hrs of dirt moveing....I go inside to get lunch. DH heads out to the shop. ( thats where the coops are) He comes in after a few minutes and says, I think you better come out here. So, I head out....and stop dead in my tracks at the gardens edge. There they were.....mutilated......... little green tomatoes everywhere!!! The chickens have attacked!!! My poor dear tomato plants. They didnt have a chance. I throw my arms in the air, and start waileing like a banchee indian. The hens reaction was.....what? You mean these are not for us!?? So, I set forth building a fence for the garden, to save the few injured plants that are left. Hopeing to save the cantelope and watermelon. BAD CHICKENS!! LOL UGH, what a day! LOL

Sorry about your garden I bet your hens were in heaven! lol I think you are the person with the most posts on the byc! My hubby ask me the other day who had the most on the chicken board. He is carpal tunnel king on the motorcycle BB we are members on.

Sorry everyone....
I just had a really long day...and needed to post something fun. It was a terrible site tho. I worked so hard on my garden....it is our first one since we bought this place 2 yrs ago. "sigh" Will I ever recover from this terrible loss? (

Okay....you were going to start the post like this but got confused right????....there has been a massacre of the vegetable variety.... You had me SCARED!!! Glad it was just tomatoes (what am I saying--tomatoes are almost as dear as chickens--yes I can relate, but I was holding my breath as I was reading.) Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

The predators are everywhere.
My cat likes to eat the bottoms off the ripe ones.
He has no respect for the fence.
