There is a 90% chance sexing may be correct.

I was wondering what others experiences were when ordering 25 hens from ideal, How accurate were they sexing your chicks..

100% - all hens

or if there was some roosters, how many.

I ordered from Ideal

9 buff orpington

8 Black Australops

8 Barred Rocks

My order is coming around March 3rd and I am getting so excited waiting

I was trying to figure if I should order a couple roosters, or wait and see what I get in my order..

I figured if I don't get any roosters I may be able to pick up a nice rooster from one of the local swaps coming up

90% is what is usually quoted as the expected accuracy rate. I wouldn't order a rooster, myself. When I ordered chicks or even bought from a feed store, I never had any trouble getting a few roos. Also if they promise or just send a "free chick" it will have been sexed as a roo, I promise.

I was hoping they would actually send me a few extras but when I asked the customer service rep she told me they wouldn't be because I ordered 25. So I am actually hoping maybe I end up with at least one rooster.

My next big adventure will be trying to incubator me some eggs... well I guess next year when they are old enough.

I ordered 25 assorted pullets from Ideal 3 weeks ago or so. So far there are no red combs or any other indication they sent us a rooster. I'm very pleased.

In my very first order from Ideal - 25 chicks (23 for me, 2 for a friend). Two chicks were DOA; they were in the mail way too long (not Ideal's fault) I ordered two roosters, got 5.

In my second order - 14 chicks ordered, all pullets. One chick died the next day. I got one roo, but I'm very pleased with him.
