I was going to throw out the little giant bator because I had a maximum reading of 116. My babies survived it. they also survived 119, 123, 129, and now 144 degrees. I finally put in another digital thermometer and its maximum reading was 99.9 degrees. this one isn't as sensitive to changes, but I figure if this therm doesn't register a spike, then I'm sure the eggs don't either. this crazy thermometer is only a few weeks old. I'm sure I don't have the receipt still. $20 down the drain...

I have 2 1588 bators and lost count of the thermometers, but I keep my sales slips. But just the other day I ordered me an ASTM certified *18 Mercury filled thermometer from Philadelphia Instruments. Come to find out that they make thermometers for lots of hatcheries. I now can calibrate my other thermometers, and most are off.
