I've gone into lockdown and am wondering if I keep my thermometer for the still air 1583 Circulated Hova-bator on top of the eggs so I can see my temp or does it need to be move off of the eggs? I do have a digital thermometer in the back so I can read humidity also but I don't think the temp readings are good back there. So I do not trust it 100%.

Also if day 17 is the supposed hatch day what is the last day that you give up hope on a egg hatching?

100 feisty feed warriors are depending on your help!!!!!

I'm not sure if I am going to goof this up but had read a post how someone incubated under the thermal air 1602N Hova-Bator "which I did" with the fan and then moved to the still air because they did not like the fan running under lockdown because they always had hatching problems "chicks drying out or something like that". So I have gone this route. I can always switch lids.

It shouldn't hurt anything to be on top of the eggs. It also shouldn't hurt to have the force air if you keep the humidity up.

So just what does a chick think when it enters the world after a successful hatch only to find a thermometer on top of his head.
