Thermometer placement

Mine is now sitting on top of the eggs. Reading 101 F

Before my temp spike my temp was between 85 - 95 F (My thermometer was a basic inacurate one) After my temp spike had killed all my babies I opened a few up and all were developing healthily so I dont think your temp being at 99.5F would alter your chicks development

Thanks.

I had thought about putting it on top of the eggs but wasnt sure if this would effect the temp of the eggs that it was on?

My incubator is a tiny round one, and is full of eggs so no room to place it on anything, except the eggs! Because it is curcular it is impossible to blue tack or velcro attach it to the sides either!
I modified my tiny incubator by cutting a large round circle in the top of a plastic container to make a larger incubator, I can now incubate 8 eggs with lots of spare room. I placed a digital thermometer probe on top of the eggs and ignored the inaccurate built in thermometer, always allow 48hrs to get the temperature settled before you add eggs.
