you have to use a relay switch with them ( house t-stat) more money you will need a transformer as well this is why most just use a wafer FWIW the wafer has the relay built in it is called a snap action switch by some.

Tilting is all that is needed to change the range in a mercury house thermostat.

Bypass the delay makes them more sensitive. Wire a 12V power threw it to the coils of a relay. then run your heater threw the points of the relay.
