Question: My thermostat regulates temp. within 1 degree C. Should I set it to between 37 - 38 or between 38 - 39? 37 is too low and 39 is too high but that's as close as I can get it. Any ideas?

set it to go low. hot temps affect your hatch a lot more. at worst the lower cycle will possibly make you hatch more hens. is this a homemade incubator? if not what type is it?

Yes, it's homemade in an ice chest. It holds a pretty steady temp. around 100 F. My last hatch I got 14 chicks, I think only 4 roosters. Before that 12 chicks with 2 or 3 roosters.
I'll turn it down 1 degree today and see what happens. Thanks.

maybe this will help:

on large fowl: if the chicks start hatching before day 20 your temp is to hot, if they start hatching after day 22 your temp is to cool.

on bantams: if the chicks start hatching before day 19 its to hot, after day 21 its to cool.

only adjust in half a degree increments.
