They’re Chicken

Free range my seven week olds today for the first time today. They’ve been in the coop and run since 3.5 week olds.
I opened the gate and the ventured no more than 10 feet from it running back into the coop multiple times.
They are so chicken.
I release mine from their brooder into the run at about four weeks. It takes at least a week and sometimes two before they begin to leave the run regularly. My current set is particularly adventurous. They’re six weeks old today and I’ve come upon them clear on the other side of the house.

Yeah these guys and gals of polish chicks a very skittish. The RIR’s are much more brave than them but still follow the flock when one runs.
I read one member here describe it best and that is “ it’s like a teen girl sleep over” the way they run around frantically.
