They are eating the paper towels!!!

Hi, I would be careful with rags because of loose threads.
I used PDZ, easy to clean with cat litter scoop and there's no smell

I can't believe these chickens! I think they just want to eat anything wood-related. I removed all the papertowel and carefresh and put down old t shirts and sweatshirts. That was fine for a couple days, but they mostly spent the last couple days out in the coop because it was warm out and they just came in to sleep. Today is cold and wet so they are inside, and they've decided to peck/tear at the side of the brooder and eat the cardboard!!

I agree that you may want to avoid rags. The can swallow loose threads and get them wrapped around their tongues (very bad...search tongue strangulation for some terrible examples)

Whoa that's horrible! I think the things I'm using are ok because they don't have loose strings. They are whole tshirts and sweatshirts. I'll check them for loose strings tho. These chickens seem more interested in paper products
