My 7 week old girls are hanging out in the coop. I find them out there several times a day in the coop just roosting or snuggling together. Is this normal? It's not cold outside or anything here right now. And do you know the little sillies don't go up there at nighttime (when they SHOULD) and I have to shoo them up there!

Have you moved their feed/water outside? I've found that if it's available inside the coop (I put both food/water inside durign the winter), they have nothing to motivate them to go outside. They are creatures of habit, so maybe offer some yummy treats each morning around the same time...they'll soon associate morning with treats!!

No, their water and food are both outside. I put their water in at nighttime only. They come running down the ladder in the morning for food. Any other ideas?

When I got my three girls last summer at 8 weeks of age they too spent a lot of time inside the coop. As they aged that changed dramatically. Now they are never in the coop except to roost at night. Even when its raining they prefer to be outside.

Last summer I thought my three were very abnormal because they spent so much time in the coop, would not eat treats (I gave them broccoli and they went running for the coop), didn't want to leave their run to free range, etc. As they grew older, that all changed. Yours just may need a little more time adjust nd mature.
