BigRed is an orpington. He is from Tuffoldhen's stock - a blue orp roo over a buff orp hen. In order to duplicate his color he is best paired with buff orp hens and those pullets bred back to him.

If you breed big red to blue hens what color will the babies be ??

Some might be blue, some might be buffish, some might be a combo of the two or with black. Red doesn't show blue, he shows black so I can only presume he didn't inherit the blue gene from his papa.
