so we have 3/4 laying but looking at the color of eggs I’m getting you would think we have 4.

Goldie lays the lighter brown eggs and Blacky the darker ones so why do I have 3 different shades of darker brown eggs. Is it normal for the color to change so much?
Today I went to let the girls out and Blacky was in the nest box when she came out it was Goldie’s egg color and slightly smaller egg that was in the box. :hmm
Goldie was our first layer so I know what her eggs look like the color and shap have always been consistent. When Blacky started laying they were darker and the shap was different but her egg color liked to very a bit
The blue/green eggs I think are from Barbecue but I’m not 100% it her she went broody and when we started getting blue eggs again it was bigger then normal (had some blood on it) that’s why I think it’s her starting up and not Chicky who has not stated laying yet her eggs should be white or blue she’s a leghorn/EE

Hilarious! Mine do that as well...... plus, I have 3 white leghorns that lay white eggs... yet I'll only have 2 white eggs but 12 eggs in total for the day... and my 13th chickie is broody... so... huh?!?! :hmm

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has chickens trying to confuse me

All 4 might be laying......they don't all lay every day.

Butt check will tell the tale......or you can wait until you get 4 in one day.

Vent Appearance:
Dry, tight, and smaller - usually not laying.
Moist, wide, and larger - usually laying.

Pelvic Points, feel for the 2 bony points(pelvic bones F-F) on either side of vent:
Less than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means not laying.
More than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means laying.
(Spacing is relative with chickens size and humans finger size.)
