They Grow So Fast...take A Look!!

my 2 week old hatchery sexed white rock looks just the same... Mine is supposed to be a pullet...

I know this is probably an "old wives tale" but you can try picking each one up , gently hold their legs and turn it upside down. If it tries to right itself, it's a rooster. If it just hangs there beak down then it's most likely a hen. I've tried it with 7, 2 week olds and it has worked 100%. 3 rooster 4 hens. You can take this with a grain of salt too. It's just amazing how the hens are so calm when you do this, and it wont hurt them.

Also, the roosters tend to stand up taller. Have fun!

I think they are too young to sex them based on combs and feathers.....Even vent sexing can only be done very early, then you have to wait. As far as the Faverolle goes, I am not sure if I saw leg feathers.....They should have feathers along the outside of the legs only, not all over the legs..... Cute chicks though!!!!!!!! They just grow way to fast...

They are adorable. Thanks for sharing. Document how the sexing turns out if you use the "upside down" method. I would like to know how often that works. Wouldn't that be great if it turns out to be right on.

I have also heard about the holding it by its head...if it goes limp then its a pullet..if it struggles..that's a roo...I don't know how accurate that is either...I may try both tests...see what the outcome is...
