This is the first time that I've had critters that grow as quickly as chickens. Dogs, cats--the changes are fairly gradual. Chicks? Turn your back, and they've doubled in size! Every day, feathers start displacing the fluff at a different location. Now I can't get over how at five weeks, my girls looked like adult bantams. They're six weeks now, just finished another growth spurt--couldn't keep the feeder full, for Pete's sake!--and now their plumage is changing colour. I wonder if there is ever a plateau--after they start laying, perhaps?
