I have some 9 week old calls. The last couple days after I let them out, they take a quick swim and then they come sit and hang out by the back door. It's kind of strange, any suggestions?

Does your back door have shade around it? If it does than they may just be looking for a place to cool off.

No shade really by the door. Plenty of shade in the rest of the yard though. They just stand there and look in. They have to go up a step to get on the deck to get to the door. Tomorrow I am goin to put a garden fence up at the deck entrance.

They want to be close to you. when our ducks have access to our back yard they come and hang out at the back door too.

My Muscovies do the same thing. I think they're just waiting on treats

(they're pretty spoiled!)
Yep we do tend to spoil them.

ARe they raised by you? if so they think your mama and will want to be close.. even at that age, the world is scary, do they not have an adult to show them around? my calls were the most clingy duck i have ever raised.. -seriously-

My baby calls right now are quite outgoing but are with a mama lol i'd get a safe area up and try walking around showing them this place is okay.. in time they will back off.. mine did.

Thanks for all the input! That's kinda what I was thinking, that they were waiting/looking for me. Got them when they were a day or two old.
