They killed a small harmless finch

I had let everyone, except our young drake, out to free range 2 hours ago and I went out to check on them a few minutes ago to find them fighting over a dead house finch that they killed. I'm still not even sure how they got it.

Poor thing looked to be a young one.

Yup, chickens are omnivores.
If it was young fledgling on the ground, might have been an easy catch.

My chickens are good mousers too. you'd be surprised when something tries to get into their space or feed that doesn't feed them, just how brutal they can be.

I've seen my chickens chase off birds, and I saw one of my ducks dunking a small baby bird that she'd stripped of feathers. I think she was trying to wet it so it'd slide down her bill and throat.

My White Layer duck Blanca is a mouse trap on legs. And i really don't want to know what else she has already converted into yummy eggs…
