They killed the rabbit!

This is my first Corgi - it has been great, he has a few issues - barks at the TV, and occasionally plays "you can't catch me!" I went to the obedience class, and he will "come" when everything is calm, but it totally does not work when he is excited. He is also a little food agressive with the other dogs, not with people.
The next chickenstock in the bay area is in the planning stages - here is the thread.

Jeremy, I could tell you even more horror stories of the really expensive items our dogs chewed and destroyed as puppies, urgh! One was a huge inflatable pool (it was a big one, much bigger than your little kiddie pool)we had it set up, almost finished filling with water, everyone was in their swimsuits waiting to get in, I don't know what posessed the dog, he ran up to it and jsut started attacking the crap out of it! Bye bye pool, stop crying kids........ Anyway, on a surprising note he completely grew out of it and doesn't even touch any kind of chew toy, or rawhide or anything, so go figure! Our other dog still has chew things but she also went through a bad stage as a puppy that she grew out of as well. Good luck!

Great wire fencing on your run, looks puppy proof, and probably raccoon, opposum, fox, etc. Good. I know people just seem to get a pup and let them run loose but, once they do, they know you can't catch them. Better to start them on a leash all the time until they do learn to obey consistantly, then give them freedom as they earn it. I do alot of walking and there is hardly a day that goes by that someone isn't screeching "Wolfgang come back." as their dog goes tearing after me barking, hackles up, etc. I am not afraid of dogs and can usually read their body language. Most of the time I can talk them down but, why should I be put in that position. I feel for people who are afraid of dogs.

Sorry I got carried away. I don't mean to imply your pup will turn into that. Just wanted to sink home the truth - people screeching a fter the dog KNOW he isn't going to come back. He doesn't have to. I think people just do it to pretend it never happened before. It gets mighty tiresome. I used to believe people wouldn't let their dogs run loose if it was a biter but, that's not true. Every time I'm Out I have to swivel around to gauge where the bark is coming from and does it sound menacing or just blabby. How big is the dog, and how fast it it coming. Really takes the fun out of a peaceful walk on a beautiful day.

PS I never go on anyone's property, so its not a matter of dogs protecting their terrain.

You sir, are out of control! Someone needs to pry that camera away from you before anyone gets hurt! lol

Thanks, I have had no problems with preditors, was really paranoid about it after reading all the posts here before building the run.
Yeah, I agree about the leash - I have a fenced yard, but also a 5 acre barn area, and he squeezed past me a couple of times. I have him on the leash all the time now, (really a lead rope), but eventually want him to be able to be off leash in the barn area. I am able to drop the rope at times, and step on it if he gets too far away. The last time he got away, he ended up in a mud/manure/moldy water runoff area - then of course, he was happy to come to me!
