So after putting hot wire up I was racoon proof (well I think so) but that did not change the constant anxiety I faced while trying to free range them. so yesterday I put up a fence and today after seeing a pair of cooper hawks in the area I decided that to heck with having an attractive area, I have already put balloons and strategic reflective wind socks and cover all over the fenced in part so why not throw caution tothe wind (or in this case taste) and here is what I have come up with. I ran pink rope from various places with eye hooks and to the fence posts so that the hawks can not swoop in. I dont even think they will try. They have a good sized run but it has long been picked clean of any plants so when am home and out and about I can now let them get to some green stuff
here's the view from my patio of the coop roof and pink make shift netting
The main coop is in this section that is overgrown between my sister's house and my back yard.
I think I will do the same thing but with green rope and higher (like 20 feet up) around my back yard as well.
In my main yard I house some of my silkies, juveniles, and my turkeys, and the ducks have a door from their pen on the other side into the main yard.
I just love watching them do their thing.
