they run away every time....grrrr

Boy, whoever wrote they were friendly creatures didn't get to know all kinds ;) Some may be, but we sure are having a tuff time of it. I wish I could be w/ them right now but it's 90%+ out there and I had to come in before I wilted! I cleaned out their pool, and so many owners are younger, stating they drain it every day. But my pool is old and my hands are too! I found this unit. It takes me 7 min. to drain their 3/4 full pool but I don't hurt myself that way! I'll go out later this afternoon when the sun is on the other side of the garage and I can sit in the shade! You should of seen them running, flap, flap, flap!

that is so funny that they trip over themselves to get to you as a person but mine trip all over themselves to get AWAY from me its really heart breaking cuz they are adorable

Unfortunately, if your sister did not put the effort into getting them used to handling when they were tiny babies, I doubt she's going to put forth the effort into training them to accept human contact, which is more work than simply handling them from the get-go. It seems it's up to you, you seem like the mature and responsible one.

When I first found my orphaned goose Chub-Chub, he was terrified of me and would hiss any time I came near him. So, I learned to "hide" myself with gloves and a hoodie if I had to do something he didn't like, like putting on his diaper or picking him up to clean his enclosure, and wearing the same shirt when I was "myself" around him and brought his favorite treat, fresh cut baby grass shoots (he's rather boring that way). It took a while and he still won't let me pick him up, but now he follows me around and will settle right next to me when I'm watching tv, just like a little lap dog. <3
