Need some more info. Type of Chicken, age, what are you feeding, Heat can be a factor also.

i have 4 golden sex links, 2 white star hybrids, and well the rest are like random chickens, now they are all pretty young except the white star they are old and i don't think they lay anymore ..... i used to let them free range but recently my neighbor got a dog and killed 2 of my chickens so i don't let them out anymore, but they have lots and lots of space in their enclosure....all have laid at least once in their life.. oh and i live in South Texas so it can pretty hot

Hope this helps

My hens have stopped laying too. I live in South Texas and it's been hot lately. I think this is a huge contributing factor. Also, my hens are free range and I've discovered they're not laying in their nesting boxes and are hiding them. Not too happy right now since I'm having to buy eggs. I have 24 hens and no roosters.

Heat will slow them down for sure. But with sex-link reds you should be getting plenty of eggs. If you are wanting good egg count it doesn't pay to free range. They will hide their eggs and move places a lot
.Also a good 16% protein lay pellet is all you really need. Scratch is good for growing out your birds but adds to much fat for the layers. Leave pellets out 24/7 .Add some grit or pile up some sand for them to scratch around in.

It could be attributed to you adding a newbie to the flock. There stressed. The dog attack, the heat who knows. Chickens don't like their little world disturbed I do know that much.

Missed the dog attack. That will do it for sure. Also the new Roo can upset them and you don't need any roosters unless you plan to hatch eggs. Hens will lay just fine without one
