They took down a bird?!?!?!

My mature hens don't mind birds at all. It's just the young cockerells and little pullet. One of them took a wee chunk out of my mom aswell! There was a fly on her leg and the pullet pecked super hard and took out some skin...
Why on earth would they do that? When they were younger one of them pecked my lip too! I was talking and had one on my lap and it pecked my lip

Dangerous little critters...
Mine like mice too. I almost panicked when Moochie swallowed a fat one and it looked like she had trouble getting it down.

Yep yep, perfectly chicken normal. My chickens have some sort of hatred (or love for) of sparrows. I've only had this flock for 18 weeks, and I've found 3 dead birds in the yard along with having to rescue one sparrow before they killed it.

By the way, Moochie, I saw in your post that you have more than one cockerel and one pullet. It might not be a problem right now, but it will be soon. Chicken's arn't picky about incest, and your boys will start harrassing the poor girl. Usually the best ratio is 5 to 10 hens per cockerel.

Sorry if you already knew all that, just wanted to make sure your pullet doesn't get mobbed by her brothers.

I think there's a scientist who's had luck tweaking genes to get chickens to be born with teeth.

Yeah we're trying to find homes but no one will take them and my mother is getting attached. She wants to keep one, ugh. She says it will be "nice" because we raised them but I've told her several times that they change when they hit their puberty stage. I do not trust the barred rock cockerells at all, because their father was very aggressive towards me and my mom didn't get rid of him until he attacked her, 2 weeks of me having to deal with him! The light sussex mutts maybe, only maybe. They're okay at the moment.. But I do not want them anyways. We should have got rid of them as chicks so people wouldn't be so picky about gender. I'm making ads soon for them.
I say we only need 3, my bantam roo and 2 others in the other yard. So 5 roos to get rid of. Joy =__=

That would explain why my lil Brahma (named Red after the T-rex) looked like a little T-rex, big ole legs, body, tall with iddie biddie wings. He looked so funny but is starting to look good.

This reminds me of a story my mom told me. She is a private pre-school teacher and she has a building behind her house that she teaches in. They have 5 acres and some farm animals, the chickens free- range in the back. Well, the kids always liked to watch the chickens out the windows. One child brought a frog he found at home and his mom had told him he could bring it to show-n- tell but then he had to let it go.
The boy proudly releases the frog out the window and goes to play. Shortly afterwards a girl says, "Teacher, come quick! A chicken is trying to get Spencer's frog!" Then she says, " Oh.... forget it, it's too late, there's nothing left but the legs!" The boy and my mom rush to the window and there is a chicken with frog legs sticking out the sides of her mouth. My mom says the poor boy was trying not to cry. My mother couldn't tell this with a straight face.
