For the one who keeps flipping over, she may just need a little time. I had one that just hatched that kept doing that. I seperated her into a smaller box so the others wouldn't trample her to give her time to figure out gravity. LOL Now she runs around just like the rest. Khaki's are great ducks for laying. Neither the rouen khaki or cayuga fly. Roeun are pretty much large mallards.
Cute ducklings though definitely not muscovy.
maybe a stupid question... when you say sterile, you mean what?
no eggs at all? drakes can't fertilize eggs?
what causes the sterile? the mix of scovies? the mix of any ducks?
sorry i have never heard that was caused and would like to understand. thanks
Good question...when a muscovy successfully mates with any other duck, other than another muscovy, the resulting duckling is called a mule. These ducks are sterile, meaning they have a very low fertility rate. Here is a site with more information.
thanks for the responses everyone. *sigh* I don't suppose anyone with muscovies lives anywhere near me, do they?
The whole reason I chose the scovies is because I live with close neighbors and I needed 'undercover' ducks- quackfree ducks...*sigh again*
They are cute- I absolutely love the one who is half the size and cant walk without getting stuck on her back. I wish I could figure out what is wrong with her so that I could help her. She just cant flip herself and lies there kickin her legs.
