They woke up CRAZY this morning

I have the coop in a spot that has morning and early afternoon shade and then nothing later on in the day. Last year we had days that were over 110 heat index so I am trying to figure out how to keep them cool.

I am still in the process of building. I know that one side will have a window and the front side will have hardware cloth opening of 6x6. There will be an inch or more gap at the roof line.

My girls did the same things around that age and when I started putting them in their run everyday they loved and my hubby build be a wired wall in the coop so they could have some place to go and at 6 weeks old they were in the coop permentaly and today they are 10 weeks old and are free ranging for the first time and are loving it and when it gets hot they usually head for the shade

how did their first outing go out of the run? Where they good girls and followed you home? I hope to be able to do the same once a day when the weather permits. Summers are just blistering and I will be in the shade with them. :0)

Will they have a run also? I agree, summers are beastly here. Is there any shade for them outside the coop? Water, water, water,...I keep telling myself.

Yes they will have a run and the coop is off the ground which will add some shade as well. I will make sure they have water and I read somewhere about freezing the water to make it cooler. I just do not want to go outside and find them dead. We have already had 90 degree weather here this year.
