I just got my year old leghorn chickens and they refuse to roost, i made a bigger one for them and they still decide to just lay on the floor. I used an inch and a half circular roost. They dont sleep in the nesting box that they use so that isn't a problem. Is it okay if i just take the bar out to give them more space? If they don't use it and they aren't sleeping in the nesting box they use, it's okay to remove it right? They don't seemed bothered by it, they just sleep in the cozy bedding. Thanks for the advice...

If I was you I would train them to use it. Every night when they go to bed, go into the coop and put them on the roost. They will soon get the hang of it.

I don't see a problem with them not roosting...my chickens don't do it either and they are A-ok
