My nine week old turkey poults all got blackhead. I was so upset, everything I read suggested it was 100% fatal in young birds.
I started putting some cayenne pepper in their feed and water and this seemed to buy me some time. I then (thanks to the info on the "hope this saves a turkey from blackhead" thread) started them on Metronidazole (50mg per kg of bird weight). It's only been two days but already, three of the four have completely pink heads again, they are all once again full of beans and one even (was particularly heartwarming) started strutting again this morning!!!
I know it's early days and there's no guarantee that they'll make a full recovery but I'm so chuffed to see this! I can't even begin to tell you all how grateful I am for the awesome advice in that thread!
