Well if they are Marans like "luvinrunnin" even better! I'll take a couple out tonight and have my hubby take pics of them. The light from the heat lamp isn't exactly great! Quite honnestly, it doesn't really matter to me what they are, I'm just happy that I have my chickens!!! Been dreaming about them for a year

Marans have white skin. It should be easy to tell by their legs whether the skin is white or yellow. Very messy barring doesn't necessarily equal Cuckoo Marans. Sometimes it just means hatchery quality stock.

OH, and I hope their coop is ready because they look ready to go out!

They could be, I think I was told they were between 5-6 weeks old. The person who sold them to me doesen't let any of the chicks go until they are 4 weeks old. He does this for a few reasons. 1) easier to sex the chicks and 2) better chance of survival. I got them from a local Heritage Town. They sell the chicks for quite a bit more than the hatcheries but if that means that I'm supporting a local "business" and my chicks will survive then hey, I'm good with that
