Where are they from? If they are from a hatchery, they are probably pet quality....if from somewhere like Holderread's then they will be Show Quality.
I really have no idea what quality they are but they are BEAUTIFUL
Where they come from is no so important- its matching the standards and not having too many faults. SQ dont necessarily breed SQ either- so where they come from only tells what bloodlines they come from- not how good each individual bird is. While I agree that certain places have better or lessor quality birds- it is not the be all and end all of how good a bird may or may not be.
I have found some good and bad points on the birds- But I am going by Australian Standards- which is what I aim for with my Runners. Without knowing how standards may vary slightly between the countries- I would say they are fairly good specimens..
Emjay - they are gorgeous- and so nice to see them in full colour too. Mine are all molting at the moment- and are looking very dull looking. I will PM you some details of how I have compared them to our standards over here.
I love your pics!!
My impression is that your ducks are better than pet quality. One thing I do notice is that the hens in the photos I see are gold phase, which is not standard in the US for show. Most breeders keep their golds and silvers together and so gold hens show up frequently. That includes some of Holderread's stock, but not if you order their show quality.
I hope someone with experience showing WH will comment, pointers on sq WH seem to be hard to come by.
They're all great shots, but the first and the eighth just really hit me... thank you so much for sharing!!
And... while I've got you on the line... would you mind if I used #1 as my puter's background for a bit??
Or number eight... either really, they're both awesome!
