Ruth, basically splash is a white bird with just a few black or blue "accent" feathers dispersed throughout, without going into genetic explanations, which others here do better than I. Here are pics of the first splash I hatched as an older youngster. You can see he's definitely not blue:

Beautiful bird Cynthia - thanks for the explanation. I went on Cackle's site last night and they had some breeds that came in "splash" and pics of same. I had never heard of splash till your posts and now I've learned something new. It's amazing all the descriptive color names that breeds of chickens come in. Silly me, at one time, long, long ago, thought all chickens were white, dirty, ugly, mean birds.
