I have a hen that I believe has a birth defect or something. Since she started laying around 6 months old (which she’s a year and a month old now) she laid two soft shells sometimes. Double yolks normal shell sometimes and then just normal eggs sometimes. I have them on nutrena layer feed. They have separate container of oyster flakes. I don’t see how it’s low calcium no others have this but her. It goes in cycles. Sometimes I syringe her some calcium to help her but she’s never been egg bound. She just has a hitch in her giddy up I guess. Anyways her soft shells normally look normal inside. Today she laid one and it had jelly like thick jelly as the egg white. Is that just a thing or is that something to be concerned about ? I didn’t think to take a pic of the yolk before I threw it out but here she is since she’s cute lol.
