I have an 18 month old Buff Orpington, who has been laying shell-less or very thin shelled eggs for a month or so.
I have 12 total 18 month old BO and Gold Laced Wyandottes.
“Shy” is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order, she’s my sweetheart. Overnight it appears that an egg broke coming out, and she was a mess this morning with dried egg and shell all over her butt. She acts fine. Oyster Shell calcium available in two locations.
I cleaned it up the best I could with warm water w/ epsum salts and sprayed some Vetricyn. What can I can do to help her, please?
Does she need more calcium?
is there something additional that I can give her, that’s super high in calcium?

It is nigh on molting time, and you can get some funky eggs as they ramp down production with the shortening days.

What all and how exactly are you feeding?
Shell formation has to do with more than just calcium consumed,
they also need ample vitamins/minerals/amino acids found in feeds.

They get 16% layer crumble from multiple feeders available all day. In the morning I toss a couple of handfuls of scratch with oats, at night they get a couple of handfuls of black sunflower seeds. They have a 24x60 outdoor run, and a 12x20 indoor run, so assuming eating some bugs etc
Thanks!!

Since you know she's the one having problems, you could try supplementing additional oyster shell in case she isn't eating it (unless you know for a fact that she's eating it regularly).

Isolate her for a private breakfast. 2-3x a week serve a small bowl (like 1 Tbsp is fine) of wet or fermented feed with oyster shell mixed in. If she does not like chunks of oyster shell, crush it up or use the powdery remnants from bottom of the bag. Should only take her a minute to eat and after that she's free to go.

If it works you should see results in a week or two, and you can try reducing it to 1-2x a week and should hopefully continue getting good results.
