Thin shelled eggs

Thanks! I have oyster shell out with them and I will move up to a higher protein when I buy my next bag of food. Is there one you like over the others?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Feeding the organic chick feed is fine as long as you provide extra calcium to support the shell making process. They need oyster shell offered free choice in separate containers.
I prefer feeding a higher protein content feed and I don't use layer mix. I put out two oyster shell feeders and one crushed eggshell feeder. One OS feeder is next to the feed troughs and one is next to the run door they go in and out of all day long.

I like Flock Raiser. It has 20% protein. I feed one trough dry right out of the bag and make a wet mash to fill a second trough. They love it.
As for the egg shells, after I crack mine, I put them in an old plastic take out container and nuke them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Once I have a decent amount I put them in a quart size freezer bag and crush them. I cut an opening from an old mixed nut jar, screwed it to a post, pour the crushed eggshells in that and put the lid back on.
