I have three chickens; 1 Delaware, 1 Leghorn and 1 Minorca. My Delaware's shells suddenly seem very thin. I even had one crushed egg yesterday. The other's shells are fine. We live in Tucson and it has recently gotten very hot. Could that be stressing her and causing her to make thin shells??? What makes this happen?

Thanks

I think stress can indeed make it happen. We have an injured hen that's still laying eggs, but the shells are suddenly very thin and delicate.

If you're allowing them access to calcium in the form of crushed oyster shells and/or layer pellets and/or free range, and if the problem is exclusive to one hen, then you're probably doing all you can do.
