Hello and many thanks to all you chicken experts! I've been a lurker for quite a while as I was working up the nerve to get my first chickens. I ordered five chicks yesterday for delivery in about 8 days. 3 EEs and 2 Buckeyes from Meyer Hatchery.

Thanks to you all, I've got a shopping list for brooding supplies. And I'm getting all sorts of ideas about the dream coop DH and my helpful neighbor will be building. ( as well as a backup "plan B" simpler design - just in case DH finds the dream coop too ambitious ).

I expect I'll be asking questions once the girls arrive, so I figure it was time to come out of the shadows and say howdy! Wish me luck!

Welcome to BYC!

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the soon to be new chicks! I hope they all arrive safely. Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of good articles on all the aspects of keeping poultry and I will also include the link to an article on raising your new chicks for the first 2 months...

If you have any other questions, that is what we are here for. Enjoy your new babies and welcome to our flock!

Oooh! Have fun with the coop process! I'm almost finished with mine (DH came home with the last of the hardware cloth I need to finish the run, a few minutes ago). Welcome to BYC. I'm new here myself, but there is a ton of information available in the learning center tab up top. And there are a ton of people here who are chicken gurus that will be good resources for you. Good luck with everything and have fun with it!!
