Sometimes I may want to hear a program or song on a radio station but the auto tune ones may not pick it up if it's not a strong enough signal but if if is a knob tuning type I may hear a little static but I can enjoy listening to it as the signal permits.

Exactly. There's a station I can get that has the greatest old Blues program on a certain day of week and the signal isn't strong so my dial radio is the one I have to use if I want to hear it.

My radio has this stupid wire coming from it that's supposed to be the antenna for fine-tuning. The problem is, my cat likes to bat at the wire and watch it sway back and forth. I can't tell you how many times she's knocked the radio to the floor in a good play session!
