Think it's too cold for your chickens? Think again...

Just run to a "goodwill" or second-hand store if you have them.  I've gotten coats for $5 that do very nicely in subezero Far. weather

Now I think we should do a fashion show of our winter get-ups.

Good idea, on both counts. Most of the time I put on 2 old sweatshirts. A few days a week I go out right before I leave for work, so I do need something that is okay to get dirty, but not so hideous ill scare the kids I work with, lol.

Haha! I was just saying not too long ago that I really wanted this cute pink Carhart jacket, heck it's been so warm out here in CO that I don't even need it. I'm gonna just do what I normally do when it does snap off cold... steal my hubby's, bonus... it smells like him :)
I have given up being a fashion plate, tossed the heels and skinney jeans for beekeeper garb and chicken friendly clothing. Don't regret it a bit!

My husband thinks I'm obsessed! He says the chickens get more attention than the whole rest of the family. I say the rest of the family doesn't give me eggs, lol. I did have the pink Carhart in mind. In a house full of males, there isn't much pink around. Maybe that's why I like the chickens so much, they're female! Ha ha

Hmmm, never thought of it that way. I've gone from a house of 3 female humans, 2 female cats, 1 male cat and me to that plus 12 female chickens. The cat and I sure are outnumbered!!

hi---ya it's like 25-30 degrees outside and i'm heatin my coop with 250 watts--mostly so the water doesn't freeze---seems to keeep the coop about 40 degrees--i do not think that's spoiling them just makin my life a little easier with no frozen water.
