Oh, normally, I'd agree. But we had a goose growing up. You think you chickens are messy. Oh my. Geese are SUPER messy. And super poopers. And when they go to molt, our backyard used to look like a down jacket company exploded.

Yeah...found out that chickens recognize me, even when they are not at my home and no longer see me daily. Some of my flock are located at a co-worker's farm high on a mountain. When I visit her, my chickens rush to my truck and cock their heads, purr at me and follow me to her porch. The rest of her flock all stand back, as if to say, "What?? Who is it that makes you so excited?"

Same when I visit the other farm that has the rest of my flock. When I walk into the barn to see them, they run to the fencing and my roo, Toby, shakes his head every time I speak....something about my voice must vibrate into his little roo brain~always has! The girls try to talk to me and I know they are wondering just when I will take them back home to their beloved free range paradise.

Their other chickens ignore my presence or avoid me, mine practically trip me when I'm walking.

Yes. They recognize me...we've been friends for 6 years now.

Awww, that's so cute!!!

Oh, I'm constantly crying at my desk over some cute posting someone put out there. So I totally know what you mean.

I'll give you a little insight, it's about this goose at a public park in LA who's adopted this man as his mate. She waits for him to ride up his scooter each day and they go for a walk around the park. You can TOTALLY tell by the way she looks up at him and honks at him that he's HER man.

I managed not to cry when I watched it. But it's very sweet.

my geese and ducks certainly recognize me and the notice what I wear...I usually wear grey sweats or grey gym shorts while working out side in the garden, yard or with the flock...one day I got a new pair of sweat pants and they were brown...I went to the yard and everyone scattered in alarm...no amount of talking would get them any where near those new pants...I guess they thought I had contracted some bad thing on my legs and they did not want it to get on them...I went to the house, put on my greys, went back out side and they were all over me and so glad to see that I was as I should be...I have tried that a few times with different jackets, shirts and get the same reaction...who knew that geese and ducks would demand a particular dress code? I found it interesting and amusing...

It reminded me of a similar incident with an appaloosa stallion I owned several years ago...jeans and boots were the dress code...I was going out to a confirmation event at the church and had to wear a dress...he had never seen me in a dress and it scared the bejeezuz out of him...he took one look at me and my legs and tore off for the back forty...I saw him peeking out from behind the pine trees as I left the property...and he gave me a good look over the next morning to make sure I had gotten over whatever was "wrong" with me before he would approach...

they are all such a bunch of characters...and they have expectations!
